A Sunny January

Earlier in the day my best friend Meloudi and I drove down to the garment district in downtown LA so that she could purchase new materials for her accessory line, Dalliance Accessories (www.dallianceaccessories.com). I was bright-eyed like a kid in a candy store and snapped up some beads so that I could get crafty with her. Imagine my surprise when she suggested I collaborate with her to design a few pieces for the Spring 2011 launch! Pictured here are the necklace and cross bracelet I made :) Check out her gorgeous pieces! I was lucky enough to receive one as a gift for my birthday. Thanks Mel!

I just had to take advantage of this beautiful day and go outside. After spending the night in 4 inch heels I donned some flats and ran around West Hollywood and Santa Monica taking pictures. Besides being super comfortable, for every pair purchased in the U.S. TOMS (short for 'Shoes for a better Tomorrow') donates a pair of shoes to underprivileged children in need in 23 different countries.  So you can feel good buying them AND wearing them.

Fun fun fun

A little early morning blogging and mimosas...life is rough sometimes

I'm finally back in San Diego after traveling to Los Angeles and Santa Barbara for an extended weekend/birthday celebration. I had a blast with my friends Meloudi, Hanna, and Dianna at Tokyo Delve's in North Hollywood :)

As promised, here are pictures of my chosen birthday outfit for the night. I think the mixture of rosettes, gold sparkle, and printed tights were just enough, what do you think?

Weekend Away

I'm off to Los Angeles for the weekend to celebrate my 25th birthday and visit my best girlfriend Meloudi. We met while working together at a cafe in downtown San Diego and we soon found that we were afflicted by the same fashion addiction, with a special weakness for shoes and handbags. I'm not quite sure what she has in store for the weekend but we always have a blast together and since she left San Diego last summer life hasn't been the same. The last few times I've visited we have explored LA; walked Melrose, shopped (we couldn't help ourselves) as well as caused general mischief.

I am only going to be gone four days but somehow this was everything I couldn't leave without. Obviously I have difficulty packing. I like to lay everything out on my bed to strategize potential outfits because it helps me visualize a look from head to toe. As you can see in the first picture I brought a few pairs of shoes (heels boots and sandals), tons of tanks and jeans to mix and match, a few jackets for layering, and two handbag options. I've just really been into monochromatic look lately so I kept the palate relatively neutral and added pops of color, like a bright scarf or handbag. My favorite purchase of late is this American Apparel white mesh 3/4 sleeve shirt with little mesh roses all over it. I had been eye-ing it in the window on the mannequin for a few weeks and finally went in to try it on. They also had black and blush colored options but I chose the white because I think it shows off the adorable detailing better. I especially like the juxtaposition of the mesh roses and the studded belts.

I'll post pictures of my outfit of choice soon :)

If you're going to San Francisco...

A picture of the Golden Gate Bridge

I attended a family reunion in San Francisco last July, and although I haven't spent much time in the city I have heard it can be a little chilly. I was only going for a weekend with the family so I tried (kind of?) to pack light, but seriously, I only had my purple Puma duffle and this black Longchamp bag so I piled on a few extra layers for warmth, or maybe because I couldn't bear to leave so many great pieces behind and was forced to improvise... The skies were clear and it was surprisingly warm when we landed so we seized the opportunity to take a walk on the Golden Gate Bridge and snap some pics. I hope you enjoy :)

Needless to say, I LOVED this outfit. It would be described by others as very 'Dani'. I chose to begin with basics; a white tank and black 7 For All Mankind skinnies, then I added this perfectly slouchy plaid button-up, a reddish-brown faux leather jacket and my beloved gray boots. I have worn them so frequently that the heels need to be resoled, but can I even part with them for that long? I'm not sure. I accessorized with a tiered drape necklace that my sister brought me as a present from her visit to the south of France last summer.

More soon

New Year, New Beginnings

Happy New Year!!!

I'm pleased to say this New Years Eve was more memorable than the past. I vowed not to repeat last year (I fell asleep before 10:30pm, oops!) so I prepared early and set an alarm :) Thanks to my friends Justin and Rich of STIR CRAZY I was able score some VIP tix to the EPIC New Years Eve party at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in San Diego. I donned my tallest, most comfortable shoes and danced the night away to the sounds of Stir Crazy, Moby, and Afrojack.

Sometimes the best plans are last minute... here are a few pictures of my outfit for the night.

As for my choice of attire... Sometimes I have a piece in mind that I want to try out and I'll dress myself around that particular article of clothing. Often times this proves to be time consuming and by the end of getting ready I've thrown at least half my wardrobe onto my bed, chair, or any other furniture that will allow. Well I have been dying to wear these lace floral tights and just now found the perfect moment to show them off. This outfit was actually quick and easy, I was able to get dressed in 10 minutes(!), mostly because it's a compilation of basics; menswear jacket, white tank, black mini, tights and superhigh heels. I just wanted to keep it fun and classy. It turned out to be functional too, my tights and jacket kept me warm at the end of the night. And you can't go wrong punching up your outfit with some gold and black jewelry.
